My mixed-media work explores the bicycle as a sculptural form in a two-dimensional space. My intention is to depict the bike through photography and to create a world where photography and painting speak as one. The works are personal and specific to the streets of Manhattan. They evoke the intimacy of the streetscape with all it’s color, light, and textures, and grit embodied there. The pieces are metaphorical in that they convey stories as to their purpose and function without a trace of human form. Vintage bikes are well worn icons of transition and strength. My use of materials include; photography, wallboard compound, spray enamel, Elmer’s glue, polyurethane, earth, and in some pieces found objects.
